Legal Counsel

Aloha Palestine is committed to respect for law, with adherence to Public International Law at our core.  As such we are proud to have secured the official legal counsel of two prominent human rights attorneys who have impeccable integrity and uncommon courage.

Legal Counsel - Lauren Booth, Daniel Machover & Ken O'Keefe

Daniel Machover is head of the civil litigation department at Hickman & Rose Law Firm in London. He specialises in international human rights law, civil actions against the Home Office and police and in representing bereaved families at inquests into deaths in custody.

From 1998 to 2004 he convened the Wormwood Scrubs Lawyers Group, which brought 56 successful civil claims for prisoners alleging assault and systemic management failures in Wormwood Scrubs prison.

In 2001, Machover received the Margery Fry Award from the Howard League for Penal Reform for ‘ensuring the protection of prisoners through tenacious pursuit of legal remedies’.

Machover co-founded Lawyers for Palestinian Human Rights in 1988 and is actively pursuing potential legal remedies in the UK and EU for Palestinian victims of alleged Israeli human rights abuses.

He is listed in Legal 500 as a leading individual in the field of Civil Liberties and Human Rights. Chambers UK 2009 puts him in tier 2 on admin law and in tier 1 on civil liberties, where he is “incredibly impressive.” In addition to his broad-based experience, says Chambers, “he is extremely intelligent and relentless on behalf of his clients.” Chambers also rates him in tier 1 on police law. “Cerebral, assured and experienced in high-level cases,” commending him for a first-class ability to “think creatively and assimilate the facts of a case swiftly and thoroughly, with a tactical approach.”

Dr. Curtis F.J. Doebbler is an international human rights lawyer who since 1988 has been representing individuals before international human rights bodies in Africa, Europe, the Americas and before United Nations bodies. He is also an American lawyer authorized to practice before the courts of the District of Columbia in Washington, DC, United States. Doebbler has degrees from four universities. His university degrees include a Ph.D. in International Law from London School of Economics, a Degree of Masters of Law (LL.M./meesterstitel) from Radboud University Nijmegen, a J.D. from New York Law School, and he also holds a diploma of the Hague Academy of International Law awarded in 2000.

He is known for his outspoken opposition to human rights violations by the U.S. government and his support of individuals in countries that have been subject to armed attacks by the United States. He has worked almost two decades in Africa, Asia and the Middle East teaching international human rights law and representing individuals in human rights cases.

More recently he has made representations before the UN Human Rights Council calling for it to end its selective punishment of human rights violators and to especially take steps against powerful countries when they violate human rights.
In addition to human rights law, Aloha Palestine has secured legal counsel in the fields of maritime and corporate law in order to establish our legal position and protect our lawful right to conduct trade and commerce as an EU registered company in full compliance of all applicable territorial and international laws.
