Faeroese to Teach Makah Indians how to Kill and Butcher Whales

Beginning September 25, the Faeroese whalers will play host to whalers from the Makah Indian tribe of Washington State.

The Faeroese will be teaching the Makah how to kill and butcher whales.

Towards this end, the Faeroese intend to drive some pilot whales ashore for the sole purpose of sacrificing them for the benefit of Makah “education”.

The visit has been organized by the World Council of Whalers with funding from the Japanese and Norwegian whaling industries.

This is further evidence for the long held position by the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society that indigenous whaling is nothing more than a sham promoted and encouraged by the industrialized whaling nations.

Comments by Captain Paul Watson

“This is enlightening now isn’t it?” The Makah Indians have to be taught how to “traditionally” hunt whales by Europeans.”

“The Faeroes intend to roll out the bloody red carpet for the Makah. The Faeroese are pariahs in Europe, for their barbaric and ruthlessly cruel whaling practices. These Nordic whale-killers need all the friends they can get. The practice of inflicting agony on defenseless whales is the only bond that brings these two pathetic cultures together.”

“The Makah did not ask for help from the Faeroese. They were invited to participate and their participation will score propaganda points for the Norwegian, Japanese, and Faeroese whalers. The Makah Indians, in their quest for spiritual and culture independence have become public relations pawns for the world’s whalers. I’m sure they will enjoy themselves, and they will eat whale meat in the Faeroes until they puke. However somebody should warn them about the fact that Faeroese children have the highest level of mercury levels in their bodies of any group on Earth. The children of Neah Bay won’t be far behind.”
