The Faces of Collateral Damage

Fifty percent of Iraq's population are children. These children were photographed around Baghdad during February/March of 2003 before the Imperial forces invaded. They have survived despite twelve years of economic sanctions. Those who live through this latest imperial invasion will likely grow up under U.S. occupation and be forgotten or murderously repressed, just as in numerous other countries the U.S. elite have bombed since the Second World War. Only this time the Iraqis won't have economic sanctions stopping them from rising up against their oppressor.

The music in this slideshow is composed by Thomas Newman, a North American musician. It's an illustration of the extreme nature of the U.S.; a country so capable of great beauty yet controlled by deluded fanatics who are bent on the most heinous ugliness.
