Many of the Human Shields made friends with the kids of the street in Baghdad; and Sayef (pictured above) was one of the most loved of all. I was hastily kicked out of Iraq by order of Saddam and had no chance to say goodbye to Sayef and others I had befriended; I wanted to make up for this as best I could by coming back. And to my joy Sayef was indeed alive and well and the smile on his face when we saw each other was magical.
