A New Year In Iraq/18a.jpg

That look.

One of the first things I noticed on the streets of Baghdad is that stare; a stare that says "what the fuck are you doing in my land!" It is a stare that was nearly non-existant in pre-invasion Iraq but now it thrives. And it is so easy to understand why; now the majority of Western people who come to Iraq are sub-contractors who are routinely making £100,000 pounds or more working for Bechtel or other corporate giants that are contracted to rebuild what America has destroyed; meanwhile Iraqi's have no jobs or electricity or clean water or reasonable access to petrol and yet the West is making big bucks and funneling out all the oil.

As a result of this travesty you cannot walk the streets of Baghdad like you could under the horrible regime of Saddam, what a total disgrace. The people are increasingly bitter and some of them will inevitably become future bin Laden's or servants to bin Laden's; fucking brilliant.
