It is common that these kids use razor blades to cut into themselves. This is the same kid who is dancing and doing a headstand in the previous pictures and here he is proudly showing me his self-inflicted scars. He has a wonderful smile and great spirit but I do not doubt for a second that his self-mutilation is in one way a means to prove his toughness; but in a deeper way it is a cry for love.
