Below - Ken with fellow marine defender and world class photographer Bob Talbot. I was thoroughly impressed with Bob, he truly cares about the oceans and acknowledges that drastic measures are necessary if we are to save what is fast diminishing of our world's oceans.

From the first time he snorkeled at age eight and looked through his mask at the wondrous undersea world, Talbot has felt an affinity for the sea and the animals that inhabit it. A dedicated environmentalist and animal-rights advocate, Talbot has used the success of his images to help the animals that are his subjects. He works with numerous environmental organizations; donating images, time, funds, and most importantly, a voice for whales and dolphins.

Capturing marine mammals on film is one of the most difficult disciplines in nature photography. Recording reality, as Talbot does, presents challenges not faced by artists who paint on canvas. He has no control over the fast-moving and often shy subjects of his work. The animals and the boat are in constant motion, the direction and quality of light are always changing, and through it all, he must continually refocus, adjust exposure, and stabilize the camera. Talbot will often wait at sea for weeks or months for all these elements to come together.

Talbot's work has been published in magazines such as Audubon, Geo, Omni, Natural History, National Geographic, American Photographer, and Ocean Realm, as well as numerous other publications worldwide.

"Since the beginning of life as we know it, the sea has supported our planet. From it has come the air we breathe, the food we eat and the water we drink. In short, the sea has given us life.... Perhaps it's time we returned the favor." - Bob Talbot
